The Vault Hotel / Helsingborg / Sweden

Helsingborg, in the southern region of Skåne, Sweden is where you’ll find The Vault Hotel. It is situated in an old bank building, hence the name. The building was originally designed to look like a castle with a tower in each corner and the grandeur of the architecture is transferred into the interior design of the hotel.

The Vault Hotel is part of the Room Republic chain with 5 hotels in Sweden and Spain. The Vault has 56 colorful rooms that looks like how I think that an eccentric old aunt in Paris would design here apartment (if I had such an aunt). Regardless if she exists or not, I think it looks great!

The hotel concept has been created by Spik Studios (from my hometown Gothenburg). They have created inspiring interiors for several of my favorite hotels and restaurants across Scandinavia and I am such a big fan of their work. Their signature look is usually maximalism where they tend to mix as many different prints and textures as possible. It is like there can never be too many contrasting prints in the same space. This results in some really bold, unique looks.

The ceiling of the entrance is covered with roses like a romantic boudoir.

The grandeur from the outside is translated to the inside. Here is the reception/bar area. Looks like an old, classic train station - in a good way.

In some way the lobby area looks like some kind a movie set with its exaggerated almost bombastic design.

The lobby/bar area with secluded seating areas where you can hide away.

Prints, patterns and a red velvet sofa. What’s not to love?

The old marble staircase matched with a modern printed wallpaper.

Maximalism at its finest. Love this kind of look!

The Summer sun is slowly setting leaving the room with a pale light that compliments the vintage looking design.

This was taken after I had just returned to bed after opening the window to let some fresh air into the room.

All rooms should have a small porcelain frog keeping you company.

The breakfast area is just as colorful as the rest of the hotel. I like when there is cohesion in the style expression.

RG inside info

This place is perfect if you…

…want to go on a city weekend and want to stay in a unique hotel and you are not afraid of being exposed to color and patterns. if you only like classic Scandi Chic and patterns gives you hives this is not the place for you. :-)

My favorite thing about this place…

…is the way the design stands out. It is something unique and not your ordinary run of the mill kind of place. More of these kind of hotels, please!

What not to miss when staying here…

…is to do what the locals do, ”tura”. It means to go back and forth with the ferry between Sweden and Denmark. The ride only takes 20 min each way. If you are looking for somewhere to have dinner, the onsite Trattoria Venti has some really good Italian food.
