Stunning agriturismo in Italy’s northwest with best service ever
Borgo Eibn Mountain Lodge / Sauris di Sotto / Friuli-Venezia Giulia / Italy
Sometimes it is something of a challenge to get to the goal which was totally the case when coming to this hotel, Borgo Eibn. I like to use the term ”off the beaten track” and it really applies here. First we had to drive for hours on winding alpine roads with sharp turns and steep descents until we arrived at the village of Sauris. And then the challenge was to find the actual hotel and the road leading up to it. We were circling around for sometime before we finally found the gravel road taking us up to this beautiful escape, 1400 meters above sea level.
Borgo Eibn is a farm turned hotel with a very timeless feeling. The two passionate owners, Viola and Rocco are doing their outmost for you to love this place just as much as they do. The truly bring being passionate to another level.
Borgo Eibn is one of those places where you just want to pull the handbrake of your car and then stay right there. It is so calm, so serene that all you want to (and can) do is to relax. And enjoy. And eat.
The rooms are situated in three different houses or lodges. They are traditional farm houses that have gently been transformed into modern (on the inside) rooms without loosing their heritage. Or actually they are more like small apartments with kitchens and all. In total there are 15 different rooms of different sizes and different themes. If you can, go for one with a view of the valley.
There is a excellent spa on site with saunas and a pool where it is easy to lounge away the hours and build up an appetite for dinner. The food her is beyond. Rocco is the bbq master and the food he prepares is so delicious.
Hiking, spa, food, Aperol, fresh mountain air… A perfect recipe for a great night’s sleep.

This place is perfect if you…
…want to experience something truly unique. Yes, it is something of a challenge to get here but it is so worth it. The scenery, the hospitality, the food… Just try it!
My favorite thing about this place…
…is that it is still a functioning farm with animals a plenty. I also want to, again, mention the hospitality which is uniquely present and attentive. Viola and Rocco made us feel like we belonged there, almost like we were distant family visiting.
What not to miss when staying here is…
…to turn off your mobile and just let the outside world stay far, far away for a while.
