Cozy, cute and affable agriturismo just south of Lago di Garda, Italy

Agriturismo Corte Pravecchio / Valeggio sul Mincio / Veneto / Italy

It is amazing to be part of something from the beginning. When a new business is launched, taking the first uncertain steps into an unknown future. When we stayed at Corte Pravecchio this happened to us. We didn’t know until XX shared this with us upon arrival. I had just sent a booking request not knowing that they decided to open up the hotel one day earlier than planned as a consequence.

This agriturismo, which is also a full scale wine producer, is located in the peaceful Mincio valley, a stones throw from the gentle Mincio River. A short drive north, you are in Pedschiera, at the southeastern corner of Lago di Garda. When arriving, the last part of the drive is on dirt roads through the vineyard before you pull up outside the hotel and you can fully start to enjoy the dolce far niente, the art of enjoying the here and now.

At Corte Pravecchio there are 6 suites that are located in a separate building. We stayed in the junior suite that was nothing short of amazing. A soft, minimalist look with muted warm colors and just the right amount of decoration to make the space come alive. The design has been created by Mia together with RURALURBAN Design Studio and the result is an enticing combination of South Tyrolean traditions (Mia and Ivan are from there) and classic Italian warmth, together with some Scandinavian elements.

One of the things I love the most about this place is that the whole family is involved in the hotel. Mia and Ivan are the ones doing most of the heavy lifting but the rest of the family are all making their part in order to make this this hotel and vine yard work. I know it is an over-used cliché but that makes it feel like we are staying with friends which is aways a great feeling to have as a guest.

The car is parked and we are ready to say…

…Welcome to Corte Pravecchio!

Directly upon arrival we were offered something to drink and a classic Italian snack; cheese and cold cuts.

And we got to get to know and cuddle with the cutest puppy, Barrique, who is the hotel dog.

We had our aperitivo at this massive wooden table the Mia’s dad had made. I love how the cracks have been mended with these wooden plugs. The perfect imperfection is something I love.

Our fabulous room, or suite. A clever solution where the bathroom and closet is hidden behind the wooden partition wall.

This color combination and the design is so on point.

OK, how could a day look when staying at Corte Pravecchiio? Catchin the first rays of sun.

Heading over to the lounge/restaurant for breakfast.

But first some morning cuddles with Barrique.

Breakfast is served

And some more breakfast

Breakfast followed by a short stroll around the premises.

Saying good morning to the hens and the rooster.

The stunning Lago di Garda. This is the northern part of the lake with a view towards the south.

And this is the northern tip of the lake, with a view towards Riva and Torbole. My favorite part of the lake.

An afternoon coffee and some cake delivered to our room.

In this separate building (which used to be where the pigs lived) you’ll find the steam sauna. Perfect way to recharge before…

…it is time for dinner. Food is Italian classics with a twist. A lot of what is served is grown or produced locally.

So simple and so delicious. Great bread. grassy olive oil and a sprinkle of salt.

Back to our room to relax after dinner.

Time to crawl into bed and dream of what will happening in the morning, another delicious breakfast and cuddling with Barrique.

RG inside info

This place is perfect if you…

…are looking for a warm, friendly, cozy, beautifully designed rural hotel with wonderful service and great food. I know, it sounds crazy, but all those wishes will be met and then some at this Italian agriturismo.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is the this is a family affair. Mia and Ivan are running the show but they are surrounded but their family which makes this place feel so warm and authentic. And not to forget the cutest puppy ever, Barrique who is also ”helping out” in his own way.

What not to miss when staying here…

…to book dinner. It is a hearty, Italian affair with a twist. The wine served is from their own vineyard. And since you are only a couple of kilometers from Lago di Garda, it would be a shame to miss going there for a dip and an ice cream.
