Elegant Italian dream surrounded by vineyards and mountains
Villa Arnica / Lana / Italy
I have written before about Klaus Dissertori and how he and his family are putting their design mark on the village of Lana in Italy. This hotel, Villa Arnica is their third hotel and I must admit, this is my favorite of the three. Villa Arnica is everything I look for in a hotel. This Old World villa was built in 1925 and the heritage is visible throughout the hotel. It was originally a hotel and after it closed it was used as a private residence for many years until it in 2019 once again opened its doors as a hotel
The design is what I would call ”gentle eclectic” (not an official style but my own definition) with items found at antique markets combined with more contemporary features as well as Italian midcentury furniture. There are only 10 rooms so this is one of those hotels where it is good to plan ahead if you want to stay here. Another piece of information that could be good to know is that Villa Arnica is adults only.
The Villa Arnica is surrounded by a large garden. If you follow the pathway you’ll end up by the pool where breakfast is served if the weather allows. Still to this day I can if I close my eyes feel that early morning sun in my face while I sip my cappuccino and listen to the birds singing.
RG inside info
This place is perfect if you…
…if you appreciate a stylish, small, adults only hotel with great service. This hotel is located in South Tyrol so you’ll get the best of two worlds, Austrian standards with Italian lifestyle and joy for life.
My favorite thing about this place…
…hmm… I think I will say the garden. I really liked that you could find your own part of the garden and have it all to yourself. And although we both love kids, it is sometimes great to stay at an adults only hotel.
Selected by RG Coffee Index…
…is extremely high, 5 out of 5. The people at Villa Arnica take their coffee seriously. Like me.
The quality booster…
…was the discreet and ever present service. As soon as you sat down somewhere one of the great people who worked there showed up to offer something to drink. And if you wanted to take care of it yourself there was a fab honesty bar.
What not to miss when staying here…
…is to hike up to the top of the Vigiljoch cable car (or you can take the actual cable car if you prefer) and have lunch at Stube Ida. Their Wienerschnitzel is well worth every single step you had to take to get up there.
