Subtle South Tyrol hotel with a rich heritage and timeless design
1477 Reichhalter / Lana / Italy
There is a small village in South Tyrol, Italy that is developing into a hot spot for design hotels. The village is called Lana and there are two main driving forces behind this development. The first is Hotel Vigilius that opened here in 2003 and the other one is a man called Klaus Dissertori. Klaus parents owns the Schwarzschmied and he is continuing the family business with Villa Arnica and 1477 Reichhalter. He has also opened up a food delicatessen and ice cream place in Lana. 1477 Reichhalter was the second Dissertori Family project to open in 2018.
The building that 477 Reichhalter is situated in has been around since, well…1477 and over the years a number of different business has been run from here, ranging from butcher’s to saw mill and a bakery, And now it is a hotel, And not just any hotel, but one with a story to tell. When creating this places it is like they have tried to peel off the layers from all the years trying to come back to the core of this old building. The interior has been created by Christina von Berg and I really would like to compliment her for the work she has done. It is just so beautiful!
1477 Reichhalter isn’t just a hotel but also a very popular restaurant, both with hotel guests and locals so if you plan to eat here when you stay over, remember to secure a table because this place fills up fast.

This place is perfect if you…
…want to stay in a place that looks like no other. The heritage is very much alive in all parts of the building but a contemporary eye has been used when creating this place. I guess the words I’m looking for are that it feels both timeless and nationless. It is just 1477 Reichhalter.
My favorite thing about this place…
…is the careful design and the breakfast, They serve a homemade version of Nutella that I tried to marry. It didn’t accept my proposal so I decided to stay with M. :-)
What not to miss when staying here…
…if you are here in Summer, don’t miss to take them up on the offer to take a dip in the pool at sister property Schwarzschmied. 1477 Reichhalter doesn’t have its own pool but you are free to use the one there. Also make sure to pop by the Monocle Shop in Merano, a 10 min drive away. My entire vacation budget was spent there.
