Ett Hem, a Stockholm hotel that feels like a warm, exclusive and stunning home

Ett Hem / Stockholm / Sweden

I think I have just arrived in hotel heaven, so please bare with me if I rave just a little too much about this place. I am referring to world renowned Ett Hem in Stockholm, Sweden. This has been on my wishlist since it opened and I feel so lucky to finally get to stay here. And you know what, it met all of my high expectations.

Ett Hem, with its 12 uniquely designed rooms, is located in the fancy Lärkstaden area of Stockholm, just a short walk from the centre of the city. It opened in 2012 after spending six (!!) years transforming this house into a home, Ett Hem. Jeanette Mix who is the owner and mastermind behind this place cleverly hired design superstar, Ilse Crawford and she has worked her magic creating a truly unique design aesthetic. It feels so timeless, so tactile and so confident. It is like this is exactly how this place is supposed to look and it has none of the anxiety you can sometimes find in the design of some hotels. When projecting this hotel they aimed to create something that is true to its name (Ett Hem means “a home” in Swedish) and I think that they have hit the ball way out of the park.

The magic of this hotel starts already when you enter through the door into the courtyard and you are met by the super attentive group of people working here. From that moment on it is all about relaxing and behaving like this is your own home. And I can promise you that we did.

It is like you can see the warmth that is awaiting you at Ett Hem already when you approach the hotel.

The whole ground floor is basically just a number of areas to socialize and hang out in. There are plenty of books and games to keep you busy.

I took photos like a mad man at Ett Hem. Everywhere you turned there was something beautiful to look at.

This wall to wall shelf creates such a beautiful back drop to this sitting room. Makes it look a real home.

Christmas decorations were still up and made Ett Hem look even more cosy and welcoming.

This was my favorite place in the hotel. Such a cozy corner where you had full view of the lobby/living room area. I loved to sit there and people watch.

I love the wood panels that frame the room in a wonderful way. And don’t get me started about the tiled stove. What a masterpiece!

The bar is ready! Don’t worry, you don’t have to mix your own. A bartender will be at your service faster than you can say “Negroni”.

All the spaces at Ett Hem look good, even the staircases and hallways.

Even the key ring is a design statement piece.

How inviting?!

Our room had a characteristic slanted ceiling and this little cozy corner to relax in.

Our bathroom with his and his vanity.

An exclusive selection of in-room beauty products as well as the Ett Hem signature scent from Argentinian perfume house Fueguia.

Every single detail looks so good, like this shower. And products from Austrian spa queen Susanne Kaufmann.

You will not miss anything when staying here. Everything you might need is tucked away in some random drawer or cupboard in your room.

Breakfast at Ett Hem is a delicious affair. I am a sucker for an á la carte set up when it comes to breakfast.

Before you check out, make sure you check out the hotel shop. They have the best selection of jewelry, beauty products and some other great things to bring home to remember your stay at Ett Hem.

RG inside info

This place is perfect if you…

…if you want to experience something out of the ordinary, both when it comes to design, service, food, well…the entire experience is out of the ordinary. You just have to experience it and see for yourself.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is everything! But if I had to chose one thing I think I would say that I love how they have managed to create a very relaxed luxurious feeling. Sometimes when something is on the more lux side of the scale it can tend to feel a little stiff and uptight. This hotel feels like the complete opposite. It feels homey. And relaxed.

What not to miss when staying here…

…is nothing! This is the first time I recommend not to do anything but to stay within the four walls of this hotel. We just left for short walks but wanted to make sure we spent as much time as possible here.
