70:s inspired design hotel in the outskirts of Amsterdam
V Hotel Fizeaustraat / Amsterdam / Netherlands
There is a really fun Dutch hotel chain with three hotels in Amsterdam called V Hotels. It is run by 12th generation Amsterdammers so this is probably as authentic as it gets.
This V Hotel is located in an area called Amstel, on the outskirts of Amsterdam. The hotel is named by the street it is located on, Fizeaustraat. This used to be an old office building that had been empty for over a decade when V Hotel started the transformation, filling the building with life.
The design oozes of the 1970:s with vintage furniture, wood paneling, tapestries and leather sofas. The building was originally designed in the 1970s by Dutch architect Piet Zanstra, in classic concrete brutalism. The design is best described as a combo between industrial and minimalist. The color scheme is mainly green and brown which is totally in line with the 70:s theme. The 91 rooms are spacious and bright with fun, quirky vintage pieces.
On site there is a really good restaurant called the Lobby which is well worth a visit. If you eat here, don't miss the Flammkuchen. It is beyond delicious.

This place is perfect if you…
…are visiting Amsterdam and you want to stay in a calmer part of town, A part that is green and residential that has the vibrant East Amsterdam just around the corner. A part of town with great restaurants, bars and night life. If you are coming to town for a concert at Ziggo Dome, this hotel is just a couple of stops away.
My favorite thing about this place…
…is the design. I really like when a hotel takes the design all the way. When the inside mirrors the outside and there is a cohesive style. The 70:s vibe of V Hotel Fizeaustraat makes me want to redecorate my home and xx
What not to miss when staying here…
…is to explore this part of town. It is easy to end up in the central part of town but Amstel and the East has a lot to discover. Get your hands on a bike and spend the day on the saddle. There are plenty of watering holes to recharge at.
