High end Amsterdam hotel with an exclusive and cosy vibe

The Dylan / Amsterdam / Netherlands

It is in the central parts of Amsterdam where you’ll find the most majestic canals and fittingly that is also where you’ll find some of the most fancy hotels. Like the Dylan Hotel that is located by the Keizersgracht, in the middle of the 9 Streets area.

The Dylan is made up of two separate canal house that are connected by a secluded courtyard. Already when entering the hotel you somehow slow down and leave the hectic Amsterdam city life outside. That is something I generally like when staying in city hotels, that it is place where you can retreat after spending the day exploring.

The style is very classic with wood-panelling, fire places, leather chairs and huge windows. This classic (and classy) design continues into the rooms. There are four different style of rooms to chose from: Loxura, Serendipity, Loft and Amber. We stayed in one of the Amber rooms (I think…) and it was a room to relax in.

When we stayed here the in-house restaurants weren’t open so we were offered in-room dining. We aren’t talking about the average room service trey being delivered to your room. No, it was a proper table set up with white table cloth and all. Actually kind of romantic to be able to eat dinner at a fancy table while wearing the Frette bathrobes we had in our room.

Welcome to the Dylan!

The hall way leading to the inner courtyard. Marble floors and cream colored walls. Fancy!

This is how you should be welcomed when checking in, something cool to drink and some freshly baked Madeleine cookies.

The design of our room with Asian influences which somehow married the Dutch canal house style in a great way.

We stayed here during the Covid-19 pandemic so the dinner was served in the room. Kind of romantic to have a table set up in the room. Very private and cozy.

This bread with that butter… I still have dreams about that combo.

So nice to cosy up here after a chilly walk along the canals.

Just look at these old floor boards. They have probably been around for a while.

The back yard of the hotel, where you can (when the weather allows) sit down and have something to eat and drink.

The hotel has plenty of bikes on offer.

RG inside info

This place is perfect if you…

…want to go on a city break and you want to splurge and treat yourself. This would normally be out of our price range but found a great offer during the pandemic so we decided we deserved a luxurious break from the everyday.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is that the people working here know who is who. We never even had to mention our room number. That kind of service level is impressive.

What not to miss when staying here…

…is to get one of the bikes the hotel has on offer to its guests and go for a ride and explore Amsterdam. It is a great way to explore this city but be careful. The Amsterdam cyclist are a fierce bunch and they show no mercy.
