Former bank in The Hague turned into design hotel seamlessly mixing old and new

Hotel Indigo / The Hague / Netherlands

Amsterdam is a real hotspot for great, unique hotels. You can throw a stone in any direction and you are guaranteed to hit some cool design hotel but in the second and third cities, Rotterdam and The Hague you have to do some thorough exploring to find the places that stand out. And that is why I was so happy to discover the Indigo Hotel The Hague.

Indigo Hotel The Hague is situated in an old bank building, opposite the Noordeinde Palace in the centre of The Hague. There are constant reminders from the this building’s past. Like the vintage safes in the rooms and the old bank vault in the basement that has been turned into a bar. But that isn’t all. The whole design is very rich and powerful with marble panelling and floors. I am a huge fan of the fishbone floor in two different colors of marble and also the repurposed oak headboards of the bed in our room. Other things that stand out to me in the design is the bold use of color and patterns which sets this hotel apart from others.

The location is excellent where you have everything literally around the corner: great shopping, cafés, restaurants, bars and the leafy parks of The Hague.

Welcome to the Indigo Hotel The Hague, right in the central parts of the city with cobbled shopping streets and leafy parks in all directions.

You don’t need a lot of imagination to see that this used to be a bank. That heritage is the red design thread in this hotel

This place is perfect if you…

…have done Amsterdam and want to explore the third largest city of The Netherlands and want to stay in the middle of the action. It also helps if you don’t mind colorful, powerful design.

My favorite thing about this place…

…realtors often talk about the importance of location, location, location. That also applies to hotels and this one has the perfect location to explore The Hague from.

What not to miss when staying here…

…if you are looking for a great restaurant I can recommend De Kade. Great food and drinks. And you must borrow one of the bikes from the hotel and bike down to the beach, regardless of season. It is beautiful all year around.
