Spa- and wellness hotel in Austrian Alps with amazing food

Hotel Post / Bezau / Austria

I have said it before and I will probably say it again, I love the Alps! There is something magical about this region. The mountains, the crystal clear lakes, the architecture, the food, the cute villages… In this region there are so many great hotels that combines heritage and modern design in such an excellent way. And Hotel Post is one of those hotels.

Hotel Post is located in Bezau, a small village just east of Bregenz in the western part of Austria. This hotel is a real destination hotel. What I mean with that? It is that this hotel is located off the beaten track so you have to make some kind of effort to get here but once you do you have everything you need within the walls of the hotel. And believe me, this hotel is worth the effort.

One of the main draws of this place is Susanne Kaufmann. Susanne has become something of a spa mega star and her products are sold at select retailers across the globe. It is Susanne’s family that has been running the Hotel Post for almost 170 years. Susanne took over in 1994 and is the fifth generation Kaufmann continuing the success story of this hotel. The hotel is built on a concept that focus on spa, nutrition, sports, sleep and the power of nature. Talk about a Big 5.

In total there are 57 rooms at Hotel Post. Like in so many other hotels in this part of the world the design elements are all about organic, tactile material such as wood, leather, felt and hand-woven linen from a local producer. It creates such a harmonious and relaxing atmosphere, not the least for the design sensitive.

Welcome to Hotel Post in Bezau, Austria!

Hotel Post consists of an older and behind that one, a newer part. Both buildings are wooden and compliment each other in an excellent way.

The hotel is embedded in greenery, bringing nature right to your doorstep.

Hotel Post is such a great combo of old and new. This corridor connects the old building with the new annex.

I love how the wooden facade is created to bring in as much light as possible into the building, connecting the inside and the outside.

The red carpets in the stairs adds a surprising and lively energy to the otherwise subtle look of the wooden interior.

Opposite the hotel there is a separate Susanne Kaufmann shop selling all of her products and some other great stuff.

And I recommend to end the bike trip with a refreshing dip in the alpine stream. Yes, my hesitation was connected to the challenging temperature…

What not to miss when staying here…

…maybe this is a given but it is to explore the surroundings. There are beautiful hikes and bike trails everywhere. So put on some proper clothes and go out and take in the scenic Austrian landscape.
