Lounge music sets the tone at relaxed, Ibizan wabi sabi designed hotel

Nativo / Santa Eulalia / Ibiza / Spain

In the hills, just outside Santa Eulalia there is an area called Siesta. It is a calm (very surprising considering the name…), lush residential area. In this tranquil setting there is great, rustic hotel called Nativo.

Nativo is all about vacation. This is a hotel where you come to lounge, relax, lay in the shade with a drink and just enjoy your vacation. Directly when you arrive you hear the soft lounge music, see people laying in huge sun beds with sheer white fabric flowing in the breeze,. The floor in the bar is even covered with sand. Yes, it borders on gimmicky but I am on board.

Our room was really spacious with a rustic, crafty look. Most of the interior is white with rendered floors and walls combined with locally made bricks in geometric patterns The design has been created with the Wabi Sabi philosophy as the guiding principle where beauty resides in imperfection and authenticity. We are talking uneven, tactile surfaces that are very pleasant to the eye and the touch.

On the roof top terrace there is area that is for adults only with a pool, bar and most importantly uninterrupted views of the ocean. This was were we hung out most of the time during our stay.

The contrasts greet you from the get go. The modern light installation and the lush, green plant wall with the signature W sign.

Welcome to the Nativo!

Welcome to the light airy entrance of W Ibiza.

The exterior of the Nativo is covered by these geometric bricks. Almost gives it a look of an art museum rather than a hotel.

Ok, I love this The modern, white, square looking building comes to live with the sun shades in different colors.

Our room was all in white except for the splashes of color on the bed.

The walls of the common spaces are covered by these textile wall bringing in vivid colors and tactile surfaces. Feels very Missoni-ish.

Rustic, rough and tactile. In Wabi Sabi the idea is that beauty sits in imperfection and authenticity.

The corridors are very discreet looking with fitted carpets and both walls and doors in muted colors.

I am a big fan of the in-room products from Sicilian brand Ortigia.

The room is everything but muted. The neutral walls are clashing (in a good way) with a graffiti headboard, printed cushions, wall art, blanket and glass lamps.

Yes, I was obsessing a little with all the different geometric patterns created around the hotel.

Love this blanket on our bed. If it was for sale I would totally get one for home.

Ok, just one more photo from one of the hotel corridors.

The bar and lounge area had a very beauty look and feel with sand covered floors and rattan furniture. And of course, som wooden ceiling fans for the right feel.

Ready for breakfast in the soft morning sun.

The bar area’s lead character is this massive stair case. The clash between the neutral micro-concrete and the colorful cushions and pillows is everything.

From the sun bed into the water, back to the sun bed. And repeat.

I really like when hotels dare to go for a look full of colors and patterns.

This was our favorite part of the hotel. The roof top, which is adults only.

There are so many great places for food on Ibiza. This is classic restaurant La Paloma. If you wanna go here, make sure to reserve a table well in advance. Before you depart from home since it is mega popular.

Ahhhh… the food at La Paloma is soooo good!

This sign is placed at the entrance to La Paloma. :-)

RG inside info

This place is perfect if you…

…when you go on vacation want to stay at a full-service hotel. A hotel where you have everything you need within arms reach. If you like hotel that has a mellow, loungy vibe, then this is your place.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is the top floor where you’ll find sun beds, pool and a bar with excellent view of the bay. This area of the hotel was for adults only so it is very calm. Perfect for an afternoon snooze in the shade.

What not to miss when staying here is…

…to explore the island. Ibiza, although it is fairly small, has so much to offer, especially when it comes to natural scenery. And food! One of our favorites (like many others’) is La Paloma, located on the middle of the island. Great atmosphere and food.
