Colourful beachside design hotel, full of contrasts and that relaxed W vibe

W Hotel / Ibiza / Spain

Sun, color, drinks, music, sea and relaxation. Ok, also add a dash of party and you have the essentials of W Ibiza.

This white dream right by the sea in Santa Eulalia del Rio opened in June 2021. For Ibiza this is kind of off the beaten track and in a way an unexpected location for this much anticipated W hotel, but at the same time it is sooo right.

This hotel is all about contrasts. The exterior of the building is all in white but is softened by sun shades in all colors of the rainbow. The corridors have a neutral grey-beige tone while the walls in the lobby area are made of colorful textiles with a Missoni inspired look. The floors are discreet polished concrete and are disrupted by a massive amount of pillows and cushions in mix-matched patterns and colors. The white-washed facade is matched with enormous green plant walls. The pale grey tone of the walls on our room was contrasted by a graffiti headboard. The service is very attentive in a typical American way but with a relaxed Spanish twist. And you know what, all these contrasts make total sense. I say yes to them all!

This modern building has 5 floors and the hotel offers a total of 110 rooms and 52 suites. But this is of course not all. There are two pools, one in the courtyard and one on the top floor which is for adults only (which was our favorite). There is always a bar nearby, there is a restaurant (although the best thing is to order food directly from your sun lounger), spa, gym… Basically you don’t have to leave the W at all if you don’t want to. They even do onsite COVID-19 tests which comes in handy in these crazy times.

The hotel is on the pricier side so a recommendation is to go for one of the cosy rooms which are the smallest ones (this is what we did) since all day is spent out and about anyway. This way you can spend your money on drinks and food by the pool instead. Much better if you ask me.

Welcome to the light airy entrance of W Ibiza.

The contrasts greet you from the get go. The modern light installation and the lush, green plant wall with the signature W sign.

Ok, I love this The modern, white, square looking building comes to live with the sun shades in different colors.

The walls of the common spaces are covered by these textile wall bringing in vivid colors and tactile surfaces. Feels very Missoni-ish.

The corridors are very discreet looking with fitted carpets and both walls and doors in muted colors.

The room is everything but muted. The neutral walls are clashing (in a good way) with a graffiti headboard, printed cushions, wall art, blanket and glass lamps.

Love this blanket on our bed. If it was for sale I would totally get one for home.

Love this photo (if I may say so myself since I took it. :-)) of the mini bar in our room. Always a fan of mirroring effects.

The bar area’s lead character is this massive stair case. The clash between the neutral micro-concrete and the colorful cushions and pillows is everything.

I really like when hotels dare to go for a look full of colors and patterns.

In the back of the hotel, almost hidden you’ll find this outdoor area. A perfect place to escape the other guests and hang out in the shade from the huge plant wall.

The pool area is all in concrete which makes the turquoise pool look even more enticing. The palm trees in the background are really the icing on the cake.

If you want to venture out, I can recommend Ve Café next door (ok, it is in the same building but facing the outside). The Avo Sandwich was just as delicious as it looks.

This place is perfect if you…

…want to stay at an full service hotel. W hotels are known for making sure you are well taken care of and the W Ibiza is no exception. There are so many people working here, eager to make your stay a memorable one.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is the use of contrasts. They are everywhere and they take this hotel from being a safe (potentially generic) hotel to a design hotel. I especially love the colorful sun shades that when lowered creates an attractive rainbow look.

The quality booster…

…is the service. It is so attentive. It is like you think of something (like a drink) and it almost appears out of thin air. That is how good the service is.

What not to miss when staying here is…

…to leave the hotel. It will be difficult since the place is so great, but trust me, Ibiza has so much to offer. Great beaches, great restaurants and beautiful nature. A restaurant I can recommend is La Paloma which is an Ibiza classic, located a short drive from the hotel.
