Colorful Frankfurt hotel mixing long- and short term guests in a relaxed atmosphere

Lindley Lindenberg / Frankfurt / Germany

Frankfurt is maybe not on most people’s radar when it comes to deciding on destination for a weekend city break. Which is a shame, since a lot of interesting things are happening in this German capital of finance. Locals say it really took off when Brexit happened and several companies, in the banking- and finance sector moved offices here, making the city even more international and diverse. Nice to see that there was something good that came out of Brexit…

If you feel inspired to try Frankfurt out for size, there is a great urban hotel, located in the east end. It is this one, The Lindley Lindenberg. The Lindenberg chain today run 3 hotels in Frankfurt, two single accommodation vacation villas where one is located in the countryside just outside Frankfurt and the other one in Bali. And soon there will be one in Norway as well. What is unique with their hotels, is that they house a mix of short- and long term stays. This is resulting in a very unique vibe where you are not sure who is just there for the night and who has been around for 6 months.

As a result of the short and long term mix, there are spaces in the hotel created to meet the needs of both groups, so there are two communal kitchens, a bar, a café, a restaurant, living room spaces, a roof top terrace, a library and a really great (and good looking) gym. So regardless how long you are planning to stay here, there are things to do and spaces to hang out in. And one of the best things is, that all of these spaces are drowning in color. Strong, vibrant, energetic, fun colors. And the best view point of all this richness, is actually from the outside, across the street from the hotel in the evening when the different spaces are lit up. It looks like one of those water color sets I used to have as a kid. Just not as messy.

The vibrant color scheme has also been applied to the rooms. Ours, although a little more muted than the public spaces, had furniture in an electric orange color and was paired with blue-grey walls and some vintage pieces to top off the mix. The design feels contemporary but by creating some geometric patterns in the ceiling, made to look like classic stucco, you get some nods to days gone by.

But enough about the room, the best part for me when staying here was exploring the hotel. Looking at the different spaces and trying them out, playing vinyls in the yellow living room, taking in all the greenery in the pink plant room and enjoying the sun and the view from the roof top terrace. And when you are done with that, an entire city is waiting for you.

Welcome to the Lindley Lindenberg!

The hotel lobby is not only housing the reception but also a café/shop with this lovely communal table.

I love this structured wallpaper used on the ground level next to the elevator.

Heading up to our room. The look and feel is industrial but with a lot of colors to soften the look a little.

Our room had a real splash of color with these electric orange chairs and table.

I love that the headboard of the bed is made of tiles. So clever! And it looks good.

Some tips on what to do in the hotel and where to find the different spaces.

Such a clever way to get a traditional look with a nostalgic touch by adding a geometric pattern on the ceiling made to look like classic stucco.

The bathroom products, made locally and with clever names.

Ok, let’s explore the different spaces facing the front of the hotel. The green space is the a combined lounge and conference room. That is also where the art work that makes up the head photo is mounted.

The yellow space (my favorite) is where you’ll find vinyls and a turntable where you can listen to music and relax.

The pink room is also the green space overloaded with plants.

There are two communal kitchens. This was my favorite of the two.

And the roof top terrace, with a view of the harbour and the roof tops of Frankfurt.

The gym has a very clean design, with a splash of color.

This was my favorite time of day, when the sun was setting and the colors of the different spaces was standing out.

One block from the hotel, you’ll find Frankfurt harbor.

Morning has broken and it is time for breakfast.

The restaurant

My selection from the all-vegan breakfast buffet.

The hotel is surrounded by greenery which is a nice contrast to all the concrete and glass.

What not to miss when staying here…

…is to locate a bike and explore the city of Frankfurt on two wheels. The central part of is flat and it is perfect to bike along the river Main that flows gently through town. Also, make sure to try the all-vegan hotel breakfast!
