South London hotspot with that typical Hoxton look and vibe

Hoxton Southwark / London / UK

I am a huge fan of Hoxton hotels. Just like hotel chains such as Ace and xx they prove that it isn’t only independent hotels that can create places with soul and unique, interesting design. Today Hoxton has 10 hotels in 5 different countries with more on the way.

The Hoxton Southwark, located on the south side of the Themes is the third outpost in London. Although it is a fairly large hotel with 192 rooms, they still manage to create an intimate feeling. It starts already with the cosy lobby area and the fantastic service by the people that great you in reception. I know it is a somewhat tired reference but the lobby really feels like a living room.

The design of the rooms is an interesting combo of old, classic features such as panelled headboards and marble surfaces combined with huge industrial windows, brick walls, concrete ceilings and raw, brass lamps. I know! It sounds like it shouldn’t work, but it does.

Just around the corner of the hotel, some of London’s best attractions are awaiting you like the Tate Modern and the popular Borough Market.

This cosy sitting area is the first thing you see when entering. It sets the homey feeling right from the get go.

Heritage and contemporary come together in the design of the rooms at The Hoxton. I love wooden panelling and it is great to see how it is paired with raw brass features and bold prints.

Big fan of the cream colored wall panels.

Compact size room but very stylish.

I don’t know If it is the point, but the bathrooms feels like a homage to the London Tube and it works. The combo of modern and classic works so well, also in the bathroom.

The Hoxton Southwark is a place where people come to hang out. Not only hotel guests but many locals seem to drop in for a drink or two.

RG inside info

This place is perfect if you…

…would like to stay in and explore a (at least to me) more unknown part of London. Most people tend to stay on the north side of the river but the south has so much to offer, especially when it comes to culture.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is how this hotel helped me to discover a new part of London. I have been in London several times but never really seen this part. By staying here I discovered a new (favorite) part of this fantastic city.

What not to miss when staying here…

…is a very good question! There is almost too much to do and explore in London. I would say to grab a coffee and go for an early morning walk along the Themes while the city slowly awakens. And then… Who knows!? Just follow your instinct.
