3 great hotel pools

Amazing hotel pools

Come to think of it, it is somewhat strange that a pool can be seen as something stunning. It is usually just a tiled square hole filled with water. But add an unexpected shape, a unique use of tiles or maybe the most important, an exceptional location and it is not so difficult to understand anymore.

Looking back I am not sure where and when my love of pools started. Maybe I has something to do with watching all those American TV-shows when growing up where beautiful people were living their (eventful) lives in eternal sunshine always close to (or in) a pool, like Melrose Place (ok, outdated reference warning). Or maybe it was when seeing the iconic Slim Aarons photo of Faye Dunaway lounging by a pool in LA post Academy Awards at an impressional age. Who knows!? Fact is, I love pools.

I have put together a list of three stunning hotel pools that I have been lucky enough to dip my toes (ok, my whole self) in. Enjoy your swim!

Manon Les Suites / Copenhagen / Denmark

This is actually an indoor pool at Manon Les Suites Hotel in Copenhagen. This hotel belongs to Danish chain Guldsmeden, that is an expanding chain with eco-friendly hotels. What is so cool with this place is that you could never imagine this jungle like tropical pool will be hiding here when entering the hotel. The outside is so discreet but when you walk past the reception into the atrium this view makes you almost fall of your feet. It really is like being transported to some magical jungle somewhere and I live for it.

Can Marti / Ibiza / Spain

This green beauty belongs to Can Marti, an agroturismo on the sunny island of Ibiza. What is so great with this pool (besides the fact that it is totally embedded in greenery) is that it is a natural pool. This means that there are no chemicals used in the water but on the other hand there are frogs. They are the cutest little fellows that join you when you go for a swim. I think this is such a brilliant way to find ways to be more sustainable when it comes to our use of chemicals and the impact it has on the environment. And this makes extra sense at a place like this sustainable country retreat.

Miramonti / Merano / Italy

And my favorite when it comes to hotel pools is this one. It belongs to the Miramonti Hotel, that sits high up on a mountain above the town of Merano in Italy’s South Tyrol region. What I love about this pool is simple. It is the view. To swim in an infinity pool on the same level as mountain tops leaves a lasting impression. I particurarly loved our early morning swims when we had the pool all to ourselves. It really felt like floating in air when swimming towards the edge of the pool. Surreal!

So, these are three of my favorite hotel pools. Do you have any that you would like to recommend? Please write me.
