Italian design hotel 1230 m above sea level with impeccable service
Miramonti / Merano / Italy
In the northern part of Italy there is a region called South Tyrol. In this region there is town that has become something of a centre for design, architecture, cool hotels, amazing restaurants, great shopping and spas. This town is called Merano (or Meran in German since this region is bilingual). High up on one of the mountains that surround Merano, 1230 meters above sea level is where you’ll find this hotel, the Miramonti.
The Miramonti is a passion project in the true sense of the word. Carmen and Klaus, who have created this mountain refuge have poured their hearts and souls into their hotel and they really want us as guest to enjoy it to the full. This is why they are still very much involved in the everyday so you can count on meeting them behind the reception, by the bar or in one of the corridors.
The Miramonti is an Alpine hideaway where it is easy to leave the problems of the world behind. As you drive along the winding roads, leaving Merano behind it is like you can feel your soul becoming lighter. And once you have arrived, it is all about the views. It doesn’t matter where you are in the hotel, in your room, by the pool, at the restaurant, in the sauna… you get this stunning view of the surroundings. And talking about the pool. It is by far the most stunning pool I have ever taken a dip in. Just check the photos and you’ll understand why.
In total there are 44 rooms, and the best thing is they all have the same view regardless if you would go for the more basic or fancy option. Very democratic.
Ok, I know I have mentioned the spectacular view like a gazillion times (for a good reason) but there are some things rivaling it and they are the service and the food. You will be so well looked after thanks to that genuine South Tyrolean hospitality. And since there are 3 restaurants on site your biggest problem will be which one to chose for dinner. Trust me, it is a champagne problem.
RG inside info
This place is perfect if you…
…like me are obsessed with views. It was almost hypnotizing to watch the day go by with this birds nest perspective.
My favorite thing about this place…
…is the pool. I know it is maybe a given but to swim towards the edge of the infinity pool almost feels like flying.
The quality booster…
…is when you are offered a welcome drink and asked to sit down and relax the minute you step through the doors while the attentive staff sort out the check in for you. Love that!
Selected by RG coffee index…
…is 5 out of 5. You know I take my coffee seriously and the coffee they serve here is top notch. It is Italy after all.
What not to miss when staying here is…
…to hike. There are some great hikes starting from the hotel that takes you further up in the mountains. A perfect way to build up a hunger so you will enjoy the sauna, spa and dinner even more.
