Contemporary urban hotel with warm design in downtown Krakow
Puro Hotel Krakow Kazimierz / Krakow / Poland
It is so great to be able to highlight local chains that are doing a great job in creating hotels that are attracting meeting places for locals, with a clear design aesthetic that can offer a great place to sleep not only in the capital but in smaller towns. An example of such a chain is, Puro Hotel that are currently running 8 hotels in Poland, and below you can read more about one of their outposts, Puro Hotel Krakow Kazimierz.
This Puro Hotel, which is one of two in the Polish second city, is the creation of architect firm, ASW and interior designers Conrad & Partners. The result is a contemporary but yet warm hotel with a welcoming feel. One thing that is fairly common when the design is more on the modern side, is that the look can sometimes feel a bit cold and disconnected. The rich use of lighting and the bright idea of placing an open fireplace in the bar area together with a warm color scheme secures that this space is anything but cold.
My room had the same kind of warm design and color scheme as the reception/bar/lobby area where soft tones and smart use of lighting made the room feel contermporary and cozy. I especially liked the bathroom that had dusty pink colored tiles, a terrazzo basin and absolutely no boring white in sight.
Even though the hotel is located within walking distance from most sights in town, I can recommend lending bikes from the hotel to explore Krakow from the saddle.

This place is perfect if you…
…are looking for a solid urban design hotel in downtown Krakow, located in the outskirts of the jewish quarter within walking distance from everything, you will appreciate this hotel.
My favorite thing about this place…
…is that they offer complimentary coffee in the reception throughout the day. As an avid coffee drinker I wish more hotels would follow suite on this.
What not to miss when staying here…
…is to visit the Schindler Museum. Oskar Schindler was the German business man who via his factories based in and around Krakow saved the lives of countless jews during the Second World War. His enamel factory is now a museum, well worth a visit when in Krakow.
