Modern looking urban hotel in the Venice of Poland, Wroclaw

Puro Hotel / Wroclaw / Lower Silesia / Poland

Wroclaw might not be on the top of people’s wish list when going on a city break but trust me when I say that you’ll be surprised about Poland’s fourth largest city, also know as the Venice of Poland. This university town has a rich heritage and a dramatic history being under German rule, know as Breslau, for many years.

Puro Hotel is located on the Pawla Wlodkowica street in the central part of town, right by the moat that lines the old part of town. This street is packed with restaurants and bars. A perfect location if you want to stay where the action is, which I am sure you do.

Puro is a Polish hotel chain with 7 hotels in 6 different cities. Their “spiel” is to celebrate their local connection of each city creating places that feel relaxed but still refined.

Puro Wroclaw is a fresh, contemporary looking hotel. My room was painted in a very subtle grey-blue color that sprang to life as the sunlight came through the massive windows. Basically, a solid urban hotel and a perfect starting point to explore this (to most people) unknown Polish city.

Puro Hotel is perfectly located on the best restaurant- and bar street of Wroclaw.

Welcome to Puro Hotel!

The lobby made to linger in with several seating areas with plush sofas and a plenty of coffee table books to flip through.

Always an extra plus in my book when there are real plants in a hotel.

Right next to the lobby there is a communal table, perfect if you need to find a place to catch up on your emails. Or at least make it look like you are…

The lobby is spacious with light coming in from three directions.

My room. Gotta love a yellow accent color.

My room was facing the garden in the back, bathing in light from the afternoon sun.

The interior is sleek and straight forward with subtle colors and discreet furniture.

Terrazzo is my favorite material in any bathroom.

The back of the hotel there is a small garden facing the old moat surrounding the old town of Wroclaw.

The old town hall

The houses lining the main market place in Wroclaw are beautiful. They were partially destroyed during World War II but luckily they were restored.

All across Wroclaw you’ll find these cute little gnomes where you least expect it. They are a celebration of the Orange Alternative, an anti-communist movement established during the time when Poland was behind the iron curtain.

One of the many great places on the same street as the hotel. A combined bookshop and wine bar. Love it!

RG inside info

This place is perfect if you…

…are going to Wroclaw and you want to stay at the only (?) design hotel in town. If you want to have crawling distance to some of the best bars and restaurants in town, then this is most likely your hotel.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is the free coffee and tea in the lobby. I wish more hotels would take notes and follow this example. It is such a simple and generous treat that will have guests linger in the lobby area

What not to miss when staying here is…

…to look up. Wroclaw was more or less totally destroyed during the Second World War but the market square only suffered minor damages. This part of town was carefully restored to its former glory with row after row of beautiful crow-stepped gable houses in all the colors of the rainbow.
