Majestic design hotel in Aosta Valley with contemporary vibe

Parc Hotel Billia / Saint-Vincent /Aosta / Italy

In the northwestern corner of Italy there is a small, autonomous region called the Aosta Valley. An area so incredibly rich when it comes to beautiful scenery, nature and magnificent mountains. This lush valley is surrounded by the four tallest mountains of the European continent (Do you know them? The Gran Paradiso, Mont Rose, The Matterhorn and the Mont Blanc). It is in this unique setting you’ll find the Parc Hotel Billia.

The Parc Hotel Billia is located in the thermal spa town of Saint-Vincent (the French sounding name reveals how close we are to the border), an ancient settlement dating back to pre-Roman times.

There are actually two hotels under the same management, the Grand Hotel Billia and the Parc Hotel Billia. The Grand is more classic opulence while the Parc is more contemporary and minimalist. We decided for the Parc while staying here since I was curious to see what design superstar Piero Lissoni had done with this 119 room Alpine hotel.

When you drive up towards the hotel the first thing you see is the yellow Grand hotel. The more modern looking wooden structure of the Parc is cleverly hidden behind the Grand. I am a huge fan of when you combine two totally different looking buildings and let them clash. And especially when that kind of clash looks as good as this one.

Welcome to Parc Hotel Billia!

The lobby area made me kind of breathless when I walked in with the decorated ceilings and powerful design.

I love the use of colors and patterns. How modern furniture meets the old, hand painted wall paper.

This lobby has to be the grandest of all the hotels I have ever stayed at.

Everywhere you turn you get a view of the surrounding mountains.

The corridor leading to our room.

The contemporary looking bar/lounge area.

The bar. The wood carvings really caught my eye. Feels like a modern take on old traditions.

One of the many different restaurants in the hotel. Love the mirror wall.

This corner of the pool was where I parked more or less during our entire stay. I think you can see why.

The dark indoor spa area, dressed in local stone and marble.

Sauna time!

…sipping on an Aperol. Or two….

There are excellent hiking opportunities in this region. We drove up to nearby Cogne where we were greeted by this view.

We hiked to the waterfall, Cascata Biolet…

If you are looking for something to do I recommend an excursion to nearby Cogne for a hike along the waterfall. This is me cooling of in the cold water.

…and I couldn’t resist going in the water. It was cold. Very cold but so worth it.

This place is perfect if you…

…want to stay at one of those hotels that offers everything you might need under one roof. There is a great spa, bars, restaurants, sunny terraces… And wherever you turn you see the Alps. I find it difficult to imagine a more beautiful backdrop.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is the terrace in front of the hotel. It was such a treat sitting here in the afternoon soon with an Aperol Spritz with a 360 view of the surroundings. I can’t remember if it was a good Aperol or not. The views where that mezmerising.

What not to miss when staying here…

…is the small village of Cogne, a short drive from the hotel. A cute Alpine village where we hiked a long a massive waterfall where we stopped for a refreshing (ok, it was super cold) dip in the mountain water.
