Focus on: Summer hotels by water
There is something truly magical about water…
…and when Summer comes to the Northern hemisphere I always have a longing to stay in hotels right by the water. Where you can get from the hotel room into the wet stuff in less than 1 minute.
And the funny thing is that it isn’t only the proximity to water that attracts me to these hotels. Hotels by water usually have this certain vibe. A relaxed, Summery, take-life-as-it-comes kind of vibe which I love. The kind of vibe that makes you wear things you would never wear at home and drink one too many drinks. For some reason these hotels make day time drinking seem like a good idea (which it never is…)..
Here are five hotels that I wish I was heading to right now to be able to enjoy the Summer season to the fullest. Which one do you wanna go to? Or maybe you have a different favourite?
Dexamenes, Peloponnese, Greece
This hotel is located right on a sandy beach on the Greek peninsula, the Peloponnese. This used to be a wine storage unit that has been transformed into a sleek design hotel where the waves of the Mediterranean will be the last thing you hear when going to sleep.

Zoomers, Castricum an Zee, Netherlands
The Netherlands has some amazing beaches. More or less the entire coast is lined with broad, sandy beaches framed by grass-covered dunes. It is in this kind of setting where you’ll find this hotel, Strandhotel Zoomers. It is literally sitting right on the beach. A quirky wooden building designed with furniture and interior accessories from HP Living. A great seaside hotel with a beachy, Californian vibe.

Falcon, Bornholm, Denmark
Few others can do beachside hotels quite like the Danes. Or “badehotell”, bathing hotels, as they like to call them. This one, the Falcon is located on the sunny island of Bornholm, a short ferry ride from the Swedish south coast. The “beach” in front of Falcon is made up of smooth granite cliffs which makes the water really clear. And these warm cliffs are perfect to dry on after a dip in the cool Baltic water.

Villa Verdin, Millstatt, Austria
Villa Verdin is a small castle right by the stunning Lake Millstatt in south Austria. A crystal clear lake perfect for a canoe trip or a long swim. The hotel is designed in a fun, eclectic way with a lot of vintage furniture and the atmosphere is really relaxed. Perfect for a Summer vacation among the dramatic Austrian mountains.

Ibiza has some really great hotels. This one sits right by the water in the small town of Santa Eularia on the south east coast. This is a hotel that has been created with one focus in mind: to enjoy all the good things in life.
