Atticus Hotel / McMinnville / OR / USA

One of the things I like most when it comes to hotels is when I discover a really great Selected by RG hotel in the most unexpected places. When we were on a roadtrip in the northwestern part of the US I was looking for a cool place to stay in Oregon. And I was looking at so many different places that didn’t tickle my fancy until I came across Hotel Atticus. This hotel is located in the small town of McMinnville, in the middle of the Oregon wine country. When you enter the hotel you step into a very unique hotel. The design is warm and welcoming. It feels like this is a place to relax and enjoy.

The Atticus is a passion project of Erin and Brian who had a dream of creating a hotel with a luxurious vibe in their town. In the Spring of 2018 their dream became reality when they opened the doors to their 36-room design hotel.

No two rooms at Atticus are the same. They have been individually designed to give all their guests an unique experience. Our room had a very warm feeling, just like the common areas of the hotel. We even had an artificial fire places which gave the room a very cosy feeling.

If you’ve read this blog before you know how much I appreciate hotels that serves up a really good cup of coffee. At Atticus you can get it at the reception. Love the color scheme of the reception area.

Our cosy room. When you have different nick-knacks in the room it helps to create a homey feeling.

Since we are in the Oregon Wine Country, the hotel offers a well stocked shop where you can get your fix.

Downtown McMinnville with the main street that is just around the corner from the hotel. Feels like traveling back in time. Our friend Mr T in the shot, caught trying to snap a better photo than me. If he managed? No. ;-)

RG inside info

This place is perfect if you…

…love wine and want to discover a (at least to me) somewhat unknown wine area and while doing so you want your base to have an air of the big city. Then this could be the place for you!

My favorite thing about this place…

…is that you get the best of both worlds, rural and urban in one. You have a really cool hotel with great design and food and it is located in cute small town with beautiful nature right around the corner.

What not to miss when staying here…

…is to have dinner at the onsite restaurant. And to take one of the hotel bikes for a spin around the area. Maybe even bike to one of the nearby vineyards?
