Colorful hotel full of patterns and impressions in the buzzing Feria district of Sevilla

Cristine Bedfor / Sevilla / Spain

Sevilla has been on my list for some time but I never got around to visit the alluring Andalusian capital. Until now. And it is easy to understand what the hype is about. This stunning moorish town that was the host of the World Exhibition back in 1992 is small enough to figure out pretty fast, but big enough to have a lot to offer in terms of culture, restaurants and fun. And it is here, in the busy Feria district where you’ll find this hotel, the colorful Cristine Bedfor.

The building that the hotel is housed in used to be a theater, created by local architect Anibal González, who also designed the stunning Plaza de España here in Seville. The stage of the theatre is still intact but instead of rows of seats, the space has been turned into a bright courtyard, where the entire ceiling is made of glass, flooding the space with natural light. On the floors above, there are wrap-around mezzanines with portals, leading you to the rooms. The upgrade, when the journey of turning this dilapidated theatre into a Cristine Bedfor hotel was done by interior designer Lorenzo Castillo, who took inspiration from the Renaissance and the legacy of Spanish Baroque artist Velázquez.

What really stands out at this 28-key hotel is the generous use of colors and patterns. When you enter the hotel your senses are almost attacked (in a good way) by colorful wallpaper, patterned textiles, powder pink ceilings, lion-patterned carpets and vintage tiles. The look is rich and eclectic, to say the least.

Our room was located on the top floor, and was all dressed in a subtle yellow hue. And just like the rest of the hotel, our room was full of pattern textiles and furniture, as well as bold, unusual color choices.

One thing that must not be missed when staying here is the roof top terrace where you’ll find a small pool and some lounge chairs where you can relax after having explored Sevilla all day, loading up on energy to prepare for a night out on the town.

The hotel is located on Calle Amor de Dios, which is a long street lined with cafés, bars and small shops, so as soon as you exit the hotel, you have the best part of town, Feria, right at your feet.

Welcome to Cristine Bedfor, located in the fun Feria district of Sevilla.

This is what meets your eye upon entering the hotel. It is like an avalanche of impressions. I love this maximalistic design!

The coolest space of the hotel is the old theatre that has been transformed into a bright inner courtyard with wrap-around balconies.

View from the top floor, where our room was located.

Ready to move into our room.

Our room was filled with patterned textiles and colorful design.

On the roof top there is a pool and…

…some sun loungers where you can relax when you need to rest your feet a little.

Feria neighborhood where the hotel is located is a great area with beautiful streets, lined with shops, cafés, restaurants and bars.

We found some great coffee places in Sevilla. This is one of them, the Late Café, less than 5 min from the hotel.

Another place in Feria worth a visit is Ringo Banana Coffee and Brunch, where we had this delicious banana bread.

The impressive Cathedral of Sevilla.

I am ready to continue exploring Sevilla after having spent a couple of minutes people-watching in the shade.

The walls of Real Alcazar of Sevilla, one of the main sights.

And here is the most famous sight in Sevilla, Plaza de España.

One of the things I liked about staying here is that you get a welcome drink voucher when checking in that you can exchange for a drink of your choice. My choice? A G&T.

We found a restaurant we really liked. It is called Gloria and had a very interesting menu. One of our favorites was this chargrilled cauliflower. It was soo good that we had to order a second portion.

Back at the hotel, ready to hit the sack.

Breakfast when staying at Cristine Bedfor, is included and served á la carte.

This is Ronda, a town close to Sevilla well worth a visit if you have access to a car.

This place is perfect if you…

…love colors,, patterns and exuberant design. If you are coming to Sevilla and want to stay in a part of town full of bars, great coffee places and restaurants, and you like a hint of grandeur in your hotel design, you will really appreciate Cristine Bedfor.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is the no-holds-barred approach to design and color. When you enter you are showered in expressive printed wall paper, sofas and chairs with different pattern fabric, opulent lamps, artwork - you name it! And I am so here for it!

What not to miss when staying here…

…is to hang out in local area of Feria. Loved walking the small streets and alleys, stopping for a coffee and something to eat. And when it comes to eating. A place we really liked is Gloria, located downtown. Well worth a visit.
