Secluded one-suite B&B in Järvsö that is all about simplicity and relaxation

Järvsö Creperie / Järvsö / Sweden

”Off the beaten track” is an expression I really like and use a lot. It isn’t only because it is very descriptive but there is also something poetic about it. Like you are some kind of adventurer going where no one (or at least very few) has been before.

Ok, maybe this is a little extreme in this case. It is not like we are the first people ever coming to the town of Järvsö, but somehow it is the feeling I got when staying at Creperiet Logi. This one-key bed & breakfast is sitting all alone on a mountain side of what is a ski area in Winter and a mountain bike heaven during Summer.

Malin Jonsson Näsman who is the mastermind behind this place has been running the Creperiet Restaurant located in “downtown” Järvsö since 2012. She got an opportunity to build a second restaurant on the mountain which she decided to go for that she opened in late 2018. She was inspired by a place on the Swedish island of Gotland where there is this restaurant (actually also a restaurant serving crepes) that has one hotel suite upstairs and she decided to create her own version but in the mountains.

The suite was ready in March of 2019 and is entirely made of wood. The interior is both pine and spruce and insulated with paper pulp from old newspapers and flax. When Malin created this tiny hotel she worked with local contractors to create a relaxing, serene and inviting space where it was all about natural materials and connecting to nature. And the result is amazing. It feels like your own private hideaway, your own cabin made of wood in the woods with a view.

Creperiet Logi is basically one suite, sitting on top of the crepe/galette restaurant located on the mountain side where you ski in Winter and hike/ride mountain bike in Summer.

The only window in the room which provides uninterrupted views of the valley below. Scroll down and you’ll see what I mean.

The bed is placed in a nook that makes it feel like you are sleeping in a tree house. Which you kind of are. The bed spread is from Växbo Lin that has their production and shop, a short drive from Järvsö

Love these vintage porcelain lamps.

Chairs from Swedish company Norrgavel (that produce all of their furniture in Småland, south Sweden) and blankets from Växbo Lin.

This is the million dollar view. This is where M and I sat in the evening with some wine and nibbles and just took in the view of the surroundings.

The cups and plates in the room are from Paradisverkstaden (on the Swedish island of Öland) and their collaboration with Stockholm lifestyle brand Grandpa.

Luxury bathroom products from Swedish organic skin care company Maria Åkerberg.

There is another Creperiet down in the village. When we stayed here the one on the mountain was closed but this one, which is the Summer restaurant was in full swing.

M is looking for someone to take his order. He was hungry (bordering on “hangry”), as you might get from his intense pose.

Just look at these galettes. Mine was with Västerbotten cheese and garlic fried kale. Yum!

If you come here, don’t miss the shop. They have a lot of cute stuff, perfect for the urban (or rural) hipster.

I love these airy, pine forests that are common in this part of Sweden. You can almost smell the pine trees just by looking at this photo.

This place is perfect if you…

…want to have a private stay with someone you care about. A place that is simple but still stunning. Where you can escape from the world for a while and enjoy tranquility and stunning views.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is the interior design and all the cleaver solutions. Compact living in a hotel room. You can tell that Malin knows design and knows what works. My favorite thing is how the interior has been created around one massive window with uninterrupted views of the area.

What not to miss when staying here is…

…to go down to town and get some supplies, bring it back to the hotel and have a picnic in the window overlooking the valley. It was almost hypnotizing to sit there with a glass of wine watching the sun set over the mountains. Another thing you have to do is to try the crepes, of course! When we were here the mountain restaurant was closed for the season so we got our fix in the main restaurant down in the village. I can highly recommend the one with Västerbotten cheese. Yum!
