Affable design B&B experience in Österlen, the Tuscany of Sweden
TypeO / Ystad / Sweden
It was M, my husband that first introduced me to this place after he had read about it in Wallpaper magazine. The place is called TypeO B&B and is located in the middle of the country side in Skåne, South Sweden. This B&B is run by Micha and Magnus and they actually live downstairs in this farmstead dating back to 1842. They refer to their place as a one-room slow living B&B and I think that description is spot on. .
The loft is actually a 50 square meter apartment with tall ceilings and the entire front is basically a glass wall. This gives you unobstructed views of the rolling hills of Skåne. The apartment is flawlessly designed in earthy tones and with natural materials. The loft is equipped with a full kitchen, designed by Nordiska Kök, a comfy Dux bed, a vintage sofa group from Ligne Roset and a number of handpicked design features that creates a beautiful totality. And you know what? If you like anything you see here, everything is for sale. I wish we could bring that sofa back home to The Netherlands…
This place is all about disconnecting and relaxing. Micha and Magnus wants us as guests to enjoy the tranquility that the countryside has to offer. And trust me, in the wonderful environment thay have created here, it wasn’t difficult to do.
RG inside info
This place is perfect if you…
…want privacy. There is only one room in this B&B so you have the whole place to yourself. Micha and Magnus are the most discreet hosts ever and they really let you do your on thing but if you need them for anything they are there within seconds.
My favorite thing about this place…
…was that we changed gears when staying here. We slowed down and took it so easy.
The quality booster…
…was that they had prepared a dough for us, waiting in the fridge when we arrived. In the morning we just turned on the oven and within 40 min we had freshly baked bread for breakfast. And I manage to convince M to bake it and to lay in bed and feel the smell of bread baking in the oven was heavenly.
What not to miss when staying here…
…is to explore. This area offers so many options when it comes to activities. One area that was new to us was the Snogeholm Hiking Area that offers several different hiking routes in the forest, a 10 min drive from the B&B. If you like us crave good coffee (or “fika” as we say in Swedish), there is a cafe called Söderberg & Sara in Ystad where you can get your fix and their cinnamon buns aren’t too bad either…
