Sunny seaside resort in Puglia where it’s all about effortless relaxation

Canne Bianche / Torre Canne / Italy

I have been lucky to go to Italy many times over the years but one area that was overlooked for such a long time was Puglia, the heel of the boot. In a way that was good because it made the discovery even sweeter. It is such an amazing area with beautiful coastline, dramatic history, great food and weather. Basically, a perfect place for a seaside vacation.

And if a seaside vacation is your thing then this hotel is right up your alley. It can’t get more seaside than this. It is located right on the beach just outside the small town of Torre Canne. The look is 50 shades of white with polished white stone, white rendered walls, white marble and white washed wood framed by some rugged looking greenery and the blue sky.

All in all there are 53 rooms at the Canne Bianche Hotel and what you do here is to relax. And eat. This is Italy after all. The food is really great regardless if we are talking about the breakfast, lunch or dinner. And the south Italian effortless charm is ever present. It is like you slow down as soon as you check in. And then you just go about your day going from the room to the breakfast to the beach to the lunch to the pool to the bar to the spa to the dinner and back to the room. And then you press repeat and do the same thing again.

The hotel is all in traditional Puglian white. All rooms have their own patio or balcony.

Pool or sea? Sea or pool? Those are the kind of dilemmas you are faced with at Canne Bianche Hotel.

The interior has a great mix of old and new with a kind of shabby chic kind of look. Works really well here in Puglia. For some reason shabby chic and seaside hotels is a match made in heaven.

As always we were up early for a refreshing dip in the sea and caught the sun just as it was rising.

If you follow the coast south you will have a scenic drive. Here is M enjoying the views close to the tip of the heel of Italy.

If you go on a road trip, make sure to put Matera on your itinerary. An amazing place with intriguing history.

RG inside info

This place is perfect if you…

…want to stay by the side. Like right by the sea. And if you appreciate to stay put once you have checked in. Of course there are things to see and do in the area but this really feels like a hotel where you don’t leave.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is the relaxed vibe. Some hotels almost have a tendency to stress you out in your ambition to fit in, wear the right clothes, order the right food. But this is the opposite. You just do you.

The quality booster…

…is to get offered a large, cool drink the first thing you do when entering the hotel. Hotels that have realized what a great start of the stay this is, always score high in my book.

Selected by RG Coffee Index…

…is a solid 5 out of 5. I don’t think that I have stayed at a hotel in Italy where this wasn’t the case.

What not to miss when staying here is…

…to have a look around. I know I just said that this is a hotel where you stay put, but there is sooo much to see and do in the area so that would be a shame. There are some amazing places to go for a swim or there are historic towns like Matera that are too amazing to even describe.
