5 hotels with spectacular views
Ok, I know I am not unique but I am such a sucker for a great view. I am one of those people that can sit forever just taking in the scenery, getting lost in my own thoughts. Also not so unique. Ok, I am basic.
One of the things I often look for when searching for new hotels are ones that are located high up on a mountain side (or top) where you literally have the world at your feet. There is something with that bird’s view that makes me feel so powerful. Mighty even.
Below I have listed 5 of my favorite hotels that are sitting high up on a mountain (or at the edge of a cliff) and therefore offer us hotel visitors a truly spectacular view.
Refuge de Montenvers, Chamonix, France
This hotel is located just above the Mer du Glace, a glacier close to Alpine favorite Chamonix, surrounded by dramatic peaks. To get here you have the get onboard the red train from Chamonix down in the valley that slowly takes you up the mountain. At the final stop, the hotel is a short walk away and no matter what direction you turn, the views are truly spectacular.

Comodo, Badgastein, Austria
Badgastein in Gasteiner Valley is a small town built in a spectacular location, litteraly on a mountain side where a massive waterfall divides town into two. It is in this classic Alpine town with its amazing Belle Epoque architecture where you’ll find this contemporary design hotel with uninterrupted views of the valley.

Tierseralpl, Alpe de Siusi, Italy
The Dolomites is one of my favorite places in the world. This mountain range is something out of the ordinary. Off the beaten path in this popular region, there is a small hotel called Tierseralpl that you can only reach by foot, hiking over a mountain ridge. And understandably considering the location, the view from the hotel is amazing.

The Bolder, Lysefjorden, Norway
Norway has its fair share of hotels with great views. One of my favorites is this one, the Bolder. The hotel is made up of a number of design cabins hanging on to the side of a cliff, high above the dramatic Lysefjorden.

Hotel Saltus, San Genesio, Italy
This is the second hotel in the northern part of Italy. Saltus is located high above the Alpine town of Bolzano. The best view is from the infinity pool on the top floor of the hotel where you are surrounded by mountains in all directions, layer after layer of dramatic mountain formation, almost like a old time movie set where mountains were painted.
